| Not only does Celica look part as a performance coupe; it also delivers where it really matters out on the open road. Low weight and responsive engines means that you feel its power straight away, shoving you forward in a positive and purposeful manner. Working the engines hard through the slick six-speed gearbox is a delight. The handling it is pure sports car, without too many electronic aids. This allows the driver to make the important decisions through the razor-sharp steering. As a focused sports car, practicality takes a back seat (the tiny rear seat is only suitable for children, or for luggage overspill from the boot). Just treat it as a two-seater and enjoy the thrill and the generous level of standard equipment. Don't worry too much about vocal engines and ever-present road noise, because that's all part of the Celica's sporty appeal. It's a great traditional coupe. |
